Santa Rosa Fire Department Declares the Official Start of Wildfire Season June 2, 2025
The City of Santa Rosa Fire Department officially declares Monday, June 2, 2025, as the start of this year’s wildfire season in Santa Rosa. Significant rainfall this year has led to substantial growth of seasonal grass and vegetation. Following the recent warm, dry weather and increased fire activity, the declaration is necessary to help ensure the community is better prepared for this wildfire season. “Following a very wet winter, we’ve had a relatively dry spring accompanied by several warm and windy days. The vegetation is drying out quickly across Santa Rosa and around the region. It's important that everyone does their part to be prepared and help make Santa Rosa safer,” Fire Chief Scott Westrope said.
