The City of Santa Rosa and the United Soccer League Explore Professional Soccer Partnership
The City is teaming up with the United Soccer League (USL) to explore bringing professional men’s and women’s soccer teams to Santa Rosa. The two have entered into exclusive negotiations, launching a yearlong effort to evaluate the viability of supporting professional soccer teams in Santa Rosa and expanding community entertainment options. Potential stadium locations, funding models, and long-term benefits for residents and the local economy will be assessed. The effort reflects the City’s commitment to creating new opportunities for recreation, community pride, and regional engagement. It also supports the City’s broader vision to enhance quality of life for residents while expanding access to inclusive, community-driven experiences. The USL is North America’s largest professional soccer organization, overseeing more than 200 clubs across multiple men’s and women’s leagues. A successful partnership would position Santa Rosa as a new destination for high-level soccer and deepen community engagement around the sport.
