Community Unites in Service for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Hundreds of volunteers turned out for a day of service in Santa Rosa on Monday to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “It was a beautiful day, a day when people from all walks of life came together to work together in service to each other and for our community,” said Rubin Scott of the Community Equity Foundation. The Foundation and Community Baptist Church, with support from Santa Rosa Recreation & Parks, organized a work party at Martin Luther King Jr. Park in southeast Santa Rosa. The City’s Creek Stewardship Program also hosted a creek clean-up at Piner Creek in the Coffey Park neighborhood. Together, these events and one hosted by the County at Roseland’s Andy Lopez Unity Park attracted more than 400 volunteers working to improve Santa Rosa.
