On this eve of Thanksgiving Day, I want to express my gratitude for our engaged Santa Rosa community and dedicated employees. From the many non-profit organizations carrying out missions of hope, to the businesses that are the backbone of our economy, to the volunteers on our City boards, committees, and commissions, to community members who participate in public meetings, to hundreds of selfless community volunteers—I am consistently awestruck by your remarkable generosity and commitment.
It is through the community’s hard work, talent, and interest in improving our city, that Santa Rosa has grown and stays strong. If you’d like to be more involved, visit SRCity.org/Volunteer to see openings on our boards and committees and other opportunities to volunteer throughout the city, and visit SRCity.org/CityCouncil to engage with the City Council and participate in public meetings.
Of course, the City’s work could not be done without our 1,400+ permanent, part-time, and temporary employees. While some of us will enjoy time off for Thanksgiving, many others will be working over the holiday to keep Santa Rosa functioning and safe. I’m grateful for their dedication on Thanksgiving and every day of the year. If you’d like to join our dedicated team, visit SRCity.org/Jobs to view current openings.
The collective action of many has created this vibrant, resilient, and prosperous Santa Rosa community we are fortunate to call ‘home.’ As the holiday season arrives, let us gather to celebrate and cherish the bonds that unite us. In that spirit, I invite you to come to Downtown Santa Rosa on the day after Thanksgiving to enjoy the Winter Lights 41st Annual Tree Lighting Celebration in Old Courthouse Square, Friday, Nov. 29 from 4-7 p.m.
Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving,
Maraskeshia Smith Santa Rosa City Manager
