Down Payment Assistance Loan Program Welcomes Families Home
The Hart-Tinsley family is settling into a new home in Santa Rosa’s Junior College neighborhood and loving their newly achieved status as homeowners. Vincent and Michelle and their kids Kyla and Quinton were the first of eight Santa Rosa families to become first-time homeowners with help from the City’s Down Payment Assistance Loan Program. The program, which launched in late 2023, has provided nearly $500,000 in 3-percent interest, deferred payment loans towards the down payment on a first home, helping low-to-moderate income families achieve the dream of homeownership. High demand has resulted in the program being fully subscribed and no new applications are being accepted. LEARN MORE

One Inch of Rainwater on a 1,000-Square-Foot Roof Will Yield Over 600 Gallons of Water
With an average annual rainfall of 30 inches in Santa Rosa, you could potentially collect and repurpose 19,800+ gallons of water per year with a 1,000-square-foot roof. One option is installing a rainwater harvesting system to capture and store rainwater to use for watering outdoor landscapes during irrigation season. Santa Rosa Water even offers a rebate of $0.25 per eligible gallon of storage. Another environmentally friendly option for capturing rainwater is creating rain gardens and swales. Join us for our free webinar “Retain the Rain: Rain Gardens and Swales” to learn how to design and install your own and explore the benefits of slowing, spreading, and sinking stormwater runoff in your garden.
