Santa Rosa’s Outstanding Community Volunteers Receive 2024 Merit Awards
On Monday evening, the City’s Merit Awards program honored 11 volunteers doing extraordinary work in our community – such as knitting teddy bears for hospitalized children, creating community through bike rides and tacos, cleaning creeks and parks, raising money for Secret Santa, preserving history, inspiring art, and so much more. The longstanding annual celebration of 42 years recognizes volunteers nominated by the community for giving their time, energy, and talents to make Santa Rosa a better place to live, work, and play. Please take a few moments to read the inspiring stories of each of our 2024 Merit Award winners and join us in a resounding “Thank You” and “Congratulations!” LEARN MORE

‘The Partnership’ Works to End Gangs and Stop Violence in Santa Rosa
Santa Rosa’s Violence Prevention Partnership, or simply “The Partnership,” is over 50 organizations working together to strengthen youth and families and create safe neighborhoods. It mobilizes parents, schools, community-based organizations, the faith community, businesses, government, and local law enforcement to reduce youth violence and gang activity. In addition to intensive violence prevention and intervention efforts, the partnership works to educate the community through gang awareness trainings, resource fairs, and an annual violence prevention seminar. This year’s sold-out event on Oct. 10 will bring together leaders from the justice, education, business, and non-profit sectors to discuss local trends and offer resources for service providers.
