Take Action and Celebrate Earth Day this Saturday, April 20
This Saturday, April 20, let's celebrate Earth Day by taking actions that protect our planet. Join us for a creek cleanup along the Prince Memorial Greenway from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. This hands-on activity is a great way to make an impact on our local environment. Afterward, go green and walk, bike, or roll over to Courthouse Square from noon to 4 p.m. for the Earth Day OnStage festival. Enjoy family-friendly activities, live performances, delicious food, and inspiring eco-friendly exhibits. Free bike parking will be provided by the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition, and fare-free transit is available on Santa Rosa CityBus, Sonoma County Transit, and Petaluma Transit. Help us keep this event zero waste by bringing a reusable water bottle and refilling it with ice cold tap water at our hydration station. Admission to the festival is free, so get your friends and family together and join in the celebration. LEARN MORE
City Manager’s Project Update: Expect Detours and Traffic Delays for Sonoma Avenue Pavement Rehabilitation
Yesterday, pavement work started on Sonoma Avenue, between E Street and Bobelaine Drive, as part of the Sonoma Avenue Pavement Rehabilitation project. This week, crews are milling the top three inches of pavement and base paving in preparation for the surface overlay next week. Once the base paving is complete, a pavement reinforcing grid will be placed over the heavier base pavement and under the surface pavement to provide additional pavement strength and help extend the surface life of the pavement. Detours will be in place next week during the surface paving process. The detours are expected to result in significant traffic delays, so avoid the area if possible. Access will be provided to residents living and doing business within the construction area. READ MORE
