Groundbreaking Marks Start of Construction for $43.7M Multimodal Overcrossing Project

On March 15, the City of Santa Rosa, Sonoma County Transportation Authority, Caltrans, and key dignitaries held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction on the third and final phase of the Highway 101 Hearn Avenue Multimodal Overcrossing project. This vital multi-phased mobility infrastructure project will improve east-west connectivity for all Santa Rosa residents of all ages and abilities. The current two-lane Hearn Avenue overcrossing, built in 1957, will be demolished and replaced with a new four-traffic-lane overcrossing that includes Class II and Class IV bike lanes and two six-foot-wide sidewalks. The project is anticipated to be completed in spring 2026.
