Composting is Good for the Environment
Composting is not only better for our environment but also a legal requirement. Starting on Jan. 1, 2022, composting has been mandated by Senate Bill 1383, a law requiring all businesses and residents to divert organic material away from landfills by composting to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases released that contribute to climate change. Food scraps, food-soiled paper, pizza boxes, paper towels, napkins, yard trimmings, leaves, and more should be home composted or placed in your green compost bin. Visit Compost, Recycle, & Trash Sorting Guides - Recology Sonoma Marin for a printable sorting guide. Try the interactive search tool What Goes Where? - Recology Sonoma Marin to learn more about what goes in your green bin.
