Santa Rosa Police Department’s VIPS Downtown Ambassador Program Returns Ahead of Holiday Shopping Season
Beginning this Friday, Nov. 24, the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) VIPS Ambassadors will conduct foot patrols in the downtown area to offer assistance, directions, and insight to visitors. The Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) will also watch for unsafe or suspicious activity, reporting any issues directly to SRPD. The program will run through the end of the year. Also, SRPD’s Downtown Enforcement Team will conduct frequent foot patrols and high-visibility policing in the downtown area and allocate additional staff to major shopping areas. Officers routinely patrol parking areas looking for would-be burglars, but we need your help. Please remember to park smart - lock car doors and windows, do not leave keys or valuables visible, and report any suspicious activity to SRPD. READ MORE

Proper Disposal of Fats, Oil, and Grease Prevents Costly Clogs and Spills
This holiday season, the City of Santa Rosa wants to remind you to never put fats, oils, or grease (FOG) down the drain. To properly dispose of FOG, wipe up small amounts with a paper towel and place them in your green waste bin along with paper napkins and food scraps. If the amount of oil is too much to be wiped up with a paper towel, but it is less than two cups, allow the oil to cool before discarding it into your garbage in a sealed container. If you have more than two cups of oil, like from deep-frying a turkey, please transfer it to a sturdy container and transport it to a disposal location. READ MORE
