20 Years of Environmental Excellence: Celebrating the Santa Rosa Geysers Recharge Project
The City of Santa Rosa and Calpine Corporation celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Santa Rosa Geysers Recharge Project at the Calpine Geothermal Visitors Center in Middletown on Nov. 3. This $220 million project, completed in 2003, has been a vital regional contributor, recycling water from Santa Rosa Water's Laguna Treatment Plant, and pumping it through a 41-mile pipeline to recharge Calpine's geothermal steamfields. This collaboration generates clean and renewable electricity for nearly 100,000 North Bay homes while reducing discharges into the Laguna De Santa Rosa and protecting the Russian River habitat. The Santa Rosa Geysers Recharge Project represents successful collaboration, innovative environmental solutions, and a commitment to clean energy and sustainability. LEARN MORE
