Milestone Disaster Recovery Project “Laurel at Perennial Park” Welcomes Residents
Tomorrow, the City of Santa Rosa will join in celebrating the opening of Laurel at Perennial Park – a new affordable housing development for seniors on Mendocino Avenue at the site of the former Journey's End Mobile Home Park destroyed by the Tubbs Fire. The opening of Laurel marks an essential milestone in Santa Rosa's wildfire recovery. It is a direct result of the City's advocacy efforts, with the assistance of state and federal representatives, to secure federal Disaster Recovery (DR) funding to build affordable housing after the fires. Santa Rosa-based nonprofit Burbank Housing and San Francisco-based Related California partnered to build the project, using tax credits, federal DR funding administered by the State, project-based vouchers provided by the City's Housing Authority, and private sector financing. The project is the culmination of advocacy, creativity, and determination, providing high-quality, safe, and affordable housing to 132 Santa Rosa seniors. LEARN MORE

Tips for a Street-Smart and Fire-Safe Halloween
Halloween is an exciting and fun time of year for the whole family, but it is essential to remember the tricks and treats of being street-smart and fire-safe. When selecting costumes, ensure they fit properly to avoid trips and falls, and provide glow sticks or flashlights to help kids see and be seen. Decorations can be highly flammable, so keep decorations away from open flames and heat sources, including light bulbs and heaters. With trick-or-treaters about, drivers need to slow down and be especially alert in residential neighborhoods. Be aware of your surroundings and avoid distractions when walking or driving.
