Santa Rosa’s Outstanding Community Volunteers Receive 2023 Merit Awards
Volunteers help clean creeks and parks, stock shelves at the food bank, tend to victims of crime and tragedy, mentor youth, and so much more. On Tuesday, 13 individuals and groups received a merit award to acknowledge the extraordinary volunteers who give their time, energy, and talents to make Santa Rosa a better place to live, work, and play. The longstanding annual celebration of 41 years recognizes volunteers nominated by the community. Highway 12 Closure Happening this Weekend, Sept. 22-25
Caltrans is planning to close a section of Highway 12 between Fulton Road and Dutton Avenue beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22. A full closure in both directions of Highway 12 is planned from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. with marked detours on city streets. During the day, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., there will be one lane open in each direction of the highway. Paving work is expected to be completed by 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25. Expect reduced traffic flow, watch for detour signs, and avoid traveling through the area this weekend if possible. READ MORE
