Our Local Reservoirs are Full; City Council Rescinds Water Shortage Emergency
The significant amounts of rain the Russian River Watershed received this winter have fully restored the water supply in our local drinking water reservoirs, Lake Mendocino and Lake Sonoma. Now that our region’s reservoirs are back to full, Santa Rosa City Council has lifted the water shortage emergency that had been in place since June 29, 2021. The City sincerely thanks the community for working together to save 1.8 billion gallons of water during the drought and reducing communitywide water use by 18% (compared to pre-drought usage in 2020). Even though the water shortage emergency has been lifted, it is critical that we all continue to use water efficiently, as the statewide restrictions on water waste, like overwatering that leads to runoff, will remain in place. There is never enough to waste, so please continue to save water when possible. LEARN MORE
