COVID-19 NEWS AND UPDATES

California Issues New Guidelines for Hosting Events

The California Department of Public Health (CDHP) issued its Safe and SMART Event Playbook, which provides guidelines to assist businesses, municipalities, and communities on how to best prepare for smaller events in this new stage of living with COVID. Today, the CDPH encourages event organizers to limit the spread of COVID by adding a vaccine verification program, testing attendees two days prior to an event, mask-wearing in poorly ventilated areas, tracking employee locations and cases, and remaining aware of current federal, state, and local status of community spread. Updated Guidelines for Isolation and Quarantine

The California Department of Public Health has updated its guidelines for isolation and quarantine. The new guidelines remove the quarantine recommendations for an asymptomatic exposed person, add recommendations for work exclusion or restriction in certain specified high-risk settings, and include an updated definition for close contact and infectious period. Professional Baseball Coming to Santa Rosa

City Council approved a request this week from Santa Rosa Recreation & Parks to pursue a licensing agreement with the Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs, LLC. Pecos, which is the largest independent baseball league in the United States, has requested designated use of the baseball field at Doyle Community Park for a team to be named the Santa Rosa Scuba Divers. Training and league play could begin as soon as this spring, pending completion and approval of the agreement. LEARN MORE

Night Work on Mendocino Avenue North of Chanate Road

The North Trunk Sewer Replacement project is scheduled to begin night-time installation of sewer pipeline to a portion of Mendocino Avenue on Monday, April 18, and will continue through the end of April, except for April 22 and 23. The work will take place between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. on a 500-foot section of Mendocino Avenue north of Chanate Road. Work is being done at night to minimize traffic disruption. During work hours, there will be changes to lane configurations and potential traffic delays. Please use extra caution when driving through this corridor, and watch for signage, equipment, and work crews. During the day, trenches will be covered to allow normal traffic flow through the area. FREE WaterSmart Toolkits Available at Earth Day Festival

Celebrate Earth Day with the City of Santa Rosa on Saturday, April 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Courthouse Square. During the event Santa Rosa Water will be distributing FREE WaterSmart toolkits to help residents save water all summer long. Toolkits will include a showerhead, hose nozzle, toilet dye tabs, shower timer, faucet aerator, 1-gallon bucket, and additional water-saving resources. Santa Rosa’s Water Waste Ordinance prohibits waste of water due to breaks, leaks, or excess use. For example, overwatering your yard or misdirected sprinklers that “water” sidewalks and runoff into gutters is water waste and is prohibited. REPORT WATER WASTE

Lowriding at its core is much deeper than just the flashy paints, how low it lays, or the cars themselves; it's a cultural way of life. Self-expression, pride in one’s culture, and a way to find and foster community are all things the lowrider lifestyle provides. The Sonoma County Lowrider Council was established in 2015 as a way to unite the local lowriding community. By prioritizing and promoting family and community within the lowriding community itself, the Lowrider Council has been able to shift the narrative around lowriding in the greater community. Little shots and hot shots, ages 3-6, can get their bodies moving and have fun this month with National Academy of Athletics and Santa Rosa Recreation & Parks! Children fall in love with playing sports and moving their bodies in this basketball development program at Steele Lane Community Center. Youngsters are guided through rhythm, speed, balance, and coordination skills, learning to dribble, pass, and shoot. Parent participation is encouraged but not required. California Emite Nuevas Pautas Para Organizar Eventos

El Departamento de Salud Pública de California (CDHP, por sus siglas en inglés) emitió su libro Safe and SMART Event Playbook, (por sus siglas en inglés) que brinda pautas para ayudar a las empresas, los municipios y las comunidades sobre cómo prepararse mejor para eventos más pequeños en esta nueva etapa de vivir con COVID. Hoy, el CDPH alienta a los organizadores de eventos a limitar la propagación de COVID incorporando un programa de verificación de vacunas, evaluando a los asistentes dos días antes de un evento, usando máscaras en áreas con poca ventilación, rastreando las ubicaciones y casos de los empleados, y manteniéndose al tanto de del estado actual de la propagación en la comunidad. Pautas Actualizadas Para el Aislamiento y La Cuarentena

El Departamento de Salud Pública de California ha actualizado sus pautas para el aislamiento y la cuarentena. Las nuevas pautas eliminan las recomendaciones de cuarentena para una persona expuesta asintomática, agregan recomendaciones para la exclusión o restricción laboral en ciertos entornos específicos de alto riesgo e incluyen una definición actualizada para contacto cercano y período infeccioso. Béisbol Profesional Llega a Santa Rosa

El Concejo Municipal aprobó esta semana una solicitud de Santa Rosa Recreation & Parks para buscar un acuerdo de licencia con Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs, LLC (por su nombre y siglas en inglés). Pecos, que es la liga de béisbol independiente más grande de los Estados Unidos, solicitó el uso designado del campo de béisbol en Doyle Community Park para un equipo que se llamará Santa Rosa Scuba Divers. Los entrenamientos y la liga podrían comenzar tan pronto como esta primavera, a la espera de que se complete y apruebe el acuerdo.

Trabajo Nocturno en Mendocino Avenue al Norte de Chanate Road

El proyecto de Reemplazo de Alcantarillado del Tronco Norte está programado para comenzar la instalación nocturna de la tubería de alcantarillado a una parte de Mendocino Avenue el lunes 18 de abril y continuará hasta fines de abril, excepto el 22 y 23 de abril.
