State Offers a Way to Find Out if You Were Exposed to COVID-19

CA Notify is a free service that allows you to find out if you were exposed to COVID-19. You can also notify others if you test positive, while remaining anonymous. Your personal information is never collected, so you and those around you can stay safe. Once you activate CA Notify on your smartphone, it does all the work. All you do is keep your Bluetooth on. You will only receive alerts if you were in close contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19. Your privacy is protected, as your identity is not known, and your specific location is not tracked. READ MORE

City of Santa Rosa Announces COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement for City Employees

On Tuesday, the Santa Rosa City Council directed the City Manager to adopt a policy requiring that all City employees provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or submit to weekly testing, effective October 1, 2021. The policy will apply to all 1,520 permanent and temporary City employees, as well as those who volunteer for the City of Santa Rosa. With this direction, the City of Santa Rosa now joins many other local municipalities and government agencies in requiring proof of vaccination for employees. While masking and social distancing requirements in the workplace remain, the best protection against COVID-19 is vaccination. READ MORE

City Charter Review Committee Positions Are Filling Up; Add Your Name for Consideration

Appointments to the City’s Charter Review Committee have begun. During the August 31 City Council meeting, five members were appointed to the Committee; however, with 16 seats still open, there is still time to submit an application today to join. Once appointed, Committee members will be tasked with reviewing the City’s Charter, which guides how Santa Rosa is governed, provides operations, and is taxed, among other items. Any recommended changes to the Charter will be put before local voters next year. Now is your opportunity to shape the future of City governance! APPLY NOW

Lend Your Voice to Santa Rosa Forward!

The City of Santa Rosa is asking for high school and college students (ages 14 to 24) to tell us what makes Santa Rosa a special place. New ‘Portland Loo” Public Restroom Opens Downtown

The long-awaited Portland Loo, the first 24-hour public restroom in the downtown corridor opened this week complete with its own address at 94 Santa Rosa Avenue, adjacent to City Hall Annex. The Loo is a standalone, single occupant, unisex restroom designed for durability, safety, security and energy efficiency. A few of its features include coated stainless-steel walls that are difficult to vandalize and easy to clean, an open bottom and top to help deter criminal activity while still providing privacy, an exterior hand washing station, and a baby changing station mounted to the exterior of the facility. The solar powered restroom also requires minimal utilities using just 1.28 gallons of water per flush and a max 60-watt energy load. READ MORE

Santa Rosa’s Water Waste Ordinance prohibits waste of water due to breaks, leaks, or excess use. For example, overwatering your yard or misdirected sprinklers that “water” sidewalks and runoff into gutters is water waste and is prohibited. REPORT WATER WASTE

Kanaye Nagasawa: The Wine King of California

Known as the "Wine King of California," Prince Kanaye Nagasawa was born a member of the Satsuma samurai noble family in the Japanese city of Kagoshima and eventually became one of the key developers of what is now known as Fountaingrove. He co-founded the Fountaingrove Winery and under his leadership, the winery became one of the ten largest wineries in California, exporting wine to New York and Europe. By this time, Fountaingrove became a pivotal stop for those coming to the United States from Japan. Kanaye eventually became the sole owner of Fountaingrove and helped keep the winery alive through the Phylloxera plague of 1908 and the Prohibition Era. READ MORE

CA Notify es un servicio gratuito que le permite averiguar si estuvo expuesto a COVID-19. También usted puede notificar a otros si resulta positivo, permaneciendo en el anonimato. Su información personal nunca se registra, por lo que usted y los que le rodean pueden permanecer seguros. Una vez que activas CA Notify en tu smartphone, éste hace todo el trabajo. La Ciudad de Santa Rosa Anuncia el Requisito de Vacunación contra el COVID-19 para los Empleados de la Ciudad

El martes, el Consejo de la Ciudad de Santa Rosa ordenó al Administrador de la Ciudad adoptar una política que requiere que todos los empleados de la Ciudad proporcionen una prueba de vacunación contra COVID-19 o se sometan a pruebas semanales, a partir del 1 de octubre de 2021. Los Puestos del Comité de Revisión de la Constitución de la Ciudad se están llenando; Aporte su Nombre para su Consideración

Los nombramientos para el Comité de Revisión de la Constitución de la Ciudad han comenzado. Durante la reunión del Consejo de la Ciudad del 31 de agosto, cinco miembros fueron nombrados para el Comité; sin embargo, con 16 puestos todavía abiertos, todavía hay tiempo para presentar una solicitud hoy para unirse. Una vez nombrados, los miembros del Comité tendrán la tarea de revisar la Constitución de la Ciudad, que guía la forma en que Santa Rosa se gobierna, proporciona las operaciones, y se grava, entre otros elementos. El Nuevo Baño Público "Portland Loo" Abre sus Puertas en el Centro de la Ciudad

El tan esperado “Portland Loo”, el primer baño público de 24 horas en el corredor del centro de la Ciudad abrió esta semana con su propia dirección en el 94 de la Avenida Santa Rosa, junto al Anexo del Ayuntamiento. El “Loo” es un baño independiente, para un solo ocupante, unisex, diseñado para la durabilidad, la seguridad y la eficiencia energética. Algunas de sus características son las paredes de acero inoxidable revestidas, difíciles de vandalizar y fáciles de limpiar, un extremo inferior y superior abiertos para disuadir de la actividad delictiva y, al mismo tiempo, ofrecer privacidad, un lavamanos exterior y un cambiador para bebés montado en el exterior de la instalación. Además, el baño con energía solar requiere unos servicios mínimos, con sólo 1.28 galones de agua por descarga y una carga máxima de energía de 60 vatios. LEER MÁS

Kanaye Nagasawa: El Rey del Vino de California

Conocido como el "Rey del Vino de California", el Príncipe Kanaye Nagasawa nació siendo miembro de la familia noble de samuráis Satsuma en la ciudad japonesa de Kagoshima y acabó convirtiéndose en uno de los principales promotores de lo que hoy se conoce como Fountaingrove. Fue cofundador de la bodega de vinos Fountaingrove Winery y bajo su liderazgo, la bodega se convirtió en una las diez más grandes en California, exportando vino a Nueva York y Europa. Además, Fountaingrove se convirtió en una parada fundamental para quienes llegaban a Estados Unidos desde Japón.
