City of Santa Rosa Preparing to Respond to a Potential PG&E Power Shutoff

SANTA ROSA, CA – The City of Santa Rosa has activated the Emergency Operation Center and is in the process of declaring a Local State of Emergency to respond to a possible extended power outage in Santa Rosa.

PG&E informed the City that Sonoma County, including areas within the City of Santa Rosa, is under a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) “Watch” based on weather conditions that may lead to a de- energization of power and power outages.

The PSPS “Watch” is in effect for areas within the City of Santa Rosa for Monday and Tuesday evenings. This afternoon, PG&E confirmed that a PSPS will likely not occur in any areas of the North Bay for Monday, September 23. However, residents should prepare for the possibility of losing power on Tuesday, September 24 at about 8 p.m. with re-energization beginning on Wednesday, September 25 at about 6 a.m. PG&E anticipates it will take between 12 and 24 hours to completely restore power to the City once the restoration process begins.

PG&E estimates that 33,000 customers in Sonoma County may lose power – 19,827 of those customers are within the City limits.

For updates and to identify service areas that may be affected by a potential power outage, residents should visit www.pge.com/psps and check individual addresses on PG&E’s interactive potential outage map.
