Transient Occupancy Tax Form Due

_

Dear Taxpayers,

The County of San Diego Treasurer-Tax Collector’s office is pleased to announce the launch of the County's new online program for Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) Monitoring and Compliance. This program is designed to streamline the registration, reporting and payment processes for short-term rental properties, ensuring compliance with county regulations and enhancing the efficiency of tax collection. Effective June 11, 2024, you will be able to start the registration process for your Short-Term Rental. The deadline to register is July 1, 2024.

As a property owner who offers short-term rentals, it is mandatory that you register your property under the new program. You will be issued a new Certificate Number that will replace your existing Certificate Number. TOT is applicable to all rentals of 30 consecutive days or less, and it is essential for supporting our community services, infrastructure, and tourism-related projects.

Key Steps for Registration:

  • Visit https://tot.sdttc.com starting June 11, 2024, to register your short-term rental property online. Click “Create an Account” to get started.
  • You must upload your Tax Deed in order to register. You may obtain a copy of your Tax Deed by visiting the Assessor Recorder’s website.
  • The registration deadline is July 1, 2024.

Complete & Submit the Online Registration Form: Registration is fast and easy! Answer a few questions about your property, including the address, owner’s contact information, and rental details. After completing the online form, it will be reviewed and approved by the Treasurer-Tax Collector. Once approved you will receive a confirmation email.

Reporting & Paying TOT Online: Reporting can be submitted after each quarter closes. Starting July 1, 2024, you will be able to report and submit payment for Quarter 4 for FY 2023-2024. You must be registered and approved prior to submitting.
