Our department is working hard to meet State deadlines as we get closer to implementation of BHSA. July 1 will mark our official transition and counties must submit their finalized BHSA Integrated Plans (IP) to the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) by June 30, following review and approval by the County Board of Supervisors.
Staff have been diligently conducting the program and fiscal mapping required to complete our county's IP draft. We are nearing the finish line, and a completed draft will soon be available for public sharing. I’ve included an update below on planned dates related to final IP submission for reference.

March 17 – April 15 – Public comment period

March 31 – Deadline for counties to submit draft IPs to DHCS

May 7 – Updated draft presented at Public Hearing with BHAB

May/June – Presentation of proposed final IP to the Board of Supervisors for certification (exact presentation date pending based Board schedule)
Thank you for the time and feedback many of you have shared during related input activities over the past several months. As we transition to BHSA, we are working to maintain critical specialty programs and services where possible while thoughtfully incorporating new opportunities. The perspectives shared by local stakeholders has helped inform the draft IP, and we hope you’ll continue to engage with us during the upcoming 30-day Public Comment period once the draft is posted for review. Your continued participation helps ensure San Diego County’s plan reflects community needs and priorities while aligning with BHSA funding parameters.
