Cool Zones Open with Summer Approaching
With warmer days ahead, the County of San Diego has officially opened its annual Cool Zones program as of June 1, 2025. This free program offers more than 80 air-conditioned locations across the county where residents can escape the heat and stay safe and comfortable. The Cool Zones will remain open through October 31, 2025, providing a much-needed resource during the hottest months of the year.

 Housing and Community Development Services Annual Plan Process
The County’s Housing and Community Development Services receives annual federal funding to support housing, infrastructure, and public services in Unincorporated areas and partner cities.
They're seeking input from residents, stakeholders, and partners to help guide priorities for the 2026–27 Annual Plan.

Senior Tech Connect helps older adults build digital skills and confidence through classes in cybersecurity, digital literacy, health apps, and more.

NEW! 2025 Request for Proposals — Latina Giving Circle - The Latina Giving Circle empowers Latinas and allies in the San Diego community and beyond to unite and amplify impact by pooling their resources to support the causes that are most important to them. Their grants support vital programs that address critical needs and create a more equitable San Diego. Applications are due June 15, 2025.
- NEW! CA Advanced Services Fund: Broadband Adoption Account - The California Advanced Services Fund Broadband Adoption Account provides grants that will increase publicly available or after-school broadband access and digital inclusion, such as grants for digital literacy training programs and public education to communities with limited broadband adoption. Applications are due on July 1, 2025.

Maryann Jackson Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship offers 5 winners a $100 gift card for dorm essentials. Applicants must be African American, a U.S. citizen, have attended a California Community College, and be enrolled at a Historically Black College/University for Fall 2025. Applications are due July 13, 2025.

Future Humanitarians Scholarship - Apply for the Sandy Eggo SEO Future Humanitarians $1000 Scholarship, dedicated to supporting students who are not just pursuing their education but dedicating their lives to making the world a kinder, more just place for everyone. Applications are due August 15, 2025.

NEW! Community Energy Reliability and Resilience Investment (CERRI) Program - The intent of this grant funding opportunity is to invest in projects that increase the electric reliability and resiliency of communities in California by reducing outage frequency, duration, magnitude, and associated community impacts, while bolstering California’s workforce. Applications are due August 29, 2025.

UC San Diego Black Alumni Scholarship Fund - This scholarship offers eligible students a four-year $10,000 scholarship, renewable at $2,500 annually. It provides financial, academic, and personal support to over 200 students currently attending UCSD. Applications are due November 30, 2025.
- NEW! Kitchens for Good Microenterprise (ME) Program - Kitchens for Good’s ME program accepts early-stage food entrepreneurs in San Diego, focusing on those who have experienced barriers to accessing the resources and support needed to start their small business. Applications are ongoing.

Greenhouse Gas Reduction Loan Program - Funds available for new or expanded organics and recycling facilities, including composting, anaerobic digestion, and waste-to-product manufacturing. Applications are open year-round.
