SAVE THE DATE! Love Your Heart is February 10 - February 14, 2025
Love Your Heart (LYH) is an annual event in which organizations from across the U.S. and Mexico join together to provide free blood pressure screenings to the public.
LYH annually helps tens of thousands of people get to know their blood pressure numbers and take charge of their own heart health. Learn more and check out ways to get involved at LoveYourHeartSD.org.
If you are interested in hosting a LYH screening site, apply by January 31, 2025 here.

Local Senior Lives His Best Life in a New Home
Life is sweet for San Diego senior Earl Deshazer eight months after moving into his new affordable home at Levant Senior Cottages in Linda Vista. Earl lives in one of 127-units designed to meet the needs of low-income seniors 55 and up, earning between 25 percent and 50 percent of the Area Median Income. Read more about his new home here!

Postcards Sent to Registered Voters for District One Special Primary Election
Over 376,000 postcards are on their way to registered voters in the County of San Diego’s First Supervisorial District listing their voting options for the April 8 special primary election.

NEW! Seniors Free at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park
During the month of February, all visitors age 65 and older receive free admission to the Safari Park. Enjoy the sights on an Africa Tram, see the platypuses and other Aussie species at Walkabout Australia, wander through Tiger Trail, take a stroll around Mombasa Lagoon, and relax with refreshments on the patio at Kijamii Overlook. There's a world of sights to see—all at the Safari Park!
Seniors 65+ must present valid photo ID at turnstiles for free entry. Parking not included.

2025 Innovation in Education STEAM Grant - The Classroom of the Future Foundation (CFF) is pleased to announce our Request for Application (RFA) process is open for the $25,000 that is awarded through the CFF “Innovation in Education” STEAM Grant Program for the 22nd Annual “Innovation in Education Awards,” on May 15, 2025 at SeaWorld San Diego. All public K-12 school districts, schools, and charters in San Diego County are eligible to apply for the 2025 CFF “Innovation in Education” grants.

Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students - The Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students (SDS) program increases diversity in the health professions and nursing workforce by providing awards to eligible health professions schools for use in awarding scholarships to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have financial need, including students who are members of racial and ethnic minority groups.

Free E-bike Training for Teens
With e-bikes surging in popularity, they've become a vital tool for reducing car trips, easing school carpool lines, and encouraging eco-friendly transportation. Most teens and children who ride e-bikes have never taken a driver’s education course, yet they’re expected to safely navigate roads shared with cars. This online course addresses these knowledge gaps, empowering teens and their families to become more skilled, aware, and responsible e-bike riders.

is hosting a series of citizenship classes through our partners at Jewish Family Service.
