The recipient communities have demonstrated remarkable progress in aligning their efforts around shared goals, improving communication with residents, and developing data-driven approaches to measure their success. The San Diego County Employees’ Charitable Organization (CECO) is accepting applications for 2025 Community Grants!
With the mission of Lending a Hand, CECO has supported local non-profits since 1956. 100% of contributions address the diverse needs of San Diego. CECO grants funds towards tangible goods, such as equipment and furnishing, that directly benefit the population served by the program.
The 2025 CECO Community Grants are open from October 14th to November 14th, 2024. Nonprofit organizations and educational institutions can apply for up to $10,000 to fund tangible goods like equipment and furnishings that benefit San Diego communities. Eligible applicants must be in good standing and have met previous grant reporting requirements. Applicants should submit an online form and provide supporting documents by email. CECO prioritizes one application per organization and doesn't guarantee yearly funding.
County Expanding Mental Health Care Through Recuperative Care Beds
The San Diego County Board of Supervisors has accepted a $12.4 million grant from the state and approved using $8 million in other funds to expand access to mental health services.
The grant from the state’s Behavioral Health Bridge Housing Program will fund 16 recuperative beds along with renovations to a building that will become a new County Substance Use Residential and Treatment Services facility in National City. It will also fund another 33 new recuperative care beds at other treatment centers.
Take the Community Action Partnership (CAP) needs assessment survey!
Through November 10, Initium Health and Community Action Partnership (CAP) are hosting an anonymous countywide survey and in-person Ideas Exchange meetings to gather input from key community sectors, especially low-income residents. CAP empowers economically disadvantaged communities to achieve the "Live Well San Diego" vision, supporting families earning 125% or less of the federal poverty level. Your participation can help identify the causes of poverty and drive meaningful change.

MPOX is a viral disease that can make you sick. One symptom includes a rash, which may look like pimples or blisters, often with an earlier flu-like illness. MPOX is rare and does not spread easily between people without close contact. The threat of MPOX to the general US population remains low.

Do you provide services to help support the basic needs of our neighbors? Many who face food insecurity are also in need of support with housing, education, healthcare, workforce development, and family support. Our outreach partners are invited to attend our food distributions and conduct community outreach to individuals and families receiving food assistance from the Food Bank.
Learn to prepare taxes and join one of the most successful anti-poverty programs in the nation. VITA Offers free tax help to people with low-to-moderate income, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, those who have limited English proficiency, and others who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.
The Local Author Program highlights the intellectual and creative accomplishments of writers in the San Diego region and is presented for reading interest as well as the opportunity to highlight the diverse and abundant talent we have locally.
The Showcase includes books and ebooks written by adults, teens and children. In its 59th year, the aim of the Showcase is to bring exposure to local talent and nurture the pursuit of the writing arts in San Diego.

In collaboration with County and community partners, the Community Assistance, Recovery, and Empowerment (CARE) Act program creates a new pathway to deliver mental health and substance use services to individuals who are diagnosed with schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders and are not engaged in treatment.
The County of San Diego Getting to Zero (GTZ) Mobile Application is intended for San Diego County residents, persons living with or at-risk of contracting HIV, and organizations and individuals involved in HIV related work. App users can connect to resources across San Diego County from any mobile device! Users can search by location, language, services offered, transportation routes, and much more.
