The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has issued a Major Disaster Declaration for San Diego County due to the impact of the Jan. 22 storm.
FEMA will offer the following services to eligible San Diegans impacted by the storm:
- Financial assistance (including housing and rental assistance).
-
Low interest loans for households and small businesses (through the Small Business Administration).

Disaster Unemployment Assistance.
-
Disaster Legal Services.
-
Case management to help those impacted by flooding develop a recovery plan.
-
Crisis Counseling Assistance and training programs to work with local mental health service providers to provide help to all impacted by the flooding.
If you were impacted by the Jan. 22 flooding, you can apply for FEMA assistance by visiting disasterassistance.gov and clicking “Let’s Get Started.”
You can also call FEMA’s phone helpline at 1-800-621-3362 daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

NEW! San Diego's Disaster Management Survey
The County of San Diego is looking to understand how we can improve services to the community during disasters.
To learn more about the specific challenges communities are facing during these disasters, we are hosting online webinars open to the community as well as a survey to learn more and hear directly from the public. This information will be used to develop policy recommendations to the County Board of Supervisors about what actions the County should take to help better serve the public before, during, and after disasters. East Region Family Reunification Pilot Program
The County of San Diego Health & Human Services Agency’s Department of Homeless Solutions and Equitable Communities is seeking referrals from East Region partners and community members for individuals or families experiencing homelessness who are seeking to reunify with their family to help end their episodes of homelessness.
Referrals are now being accepted at HSEC-OHS.HHSA@sdcounty.ca.gov.

Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT)
MCRT program is an alternative to law enforcement response with teams comprised of behavioral health experts who are trained to respond in the community and de-escalate crises related to alcohol, drugs, or mental health conditions.
MCRT is deployed through calls made to the San Diego Access and Crisis Line (888-724-7240 or emergency medical services.

In an effort to address health disparities, Therapy for Black Women in collaboration with Mental Health American San Diego and the County of San Diego are providing therapeutic intervention facilitated by a licensed and board-certified counselor at no cost to the participant.
