DTSC's 2021 Hazardous Waste ID Number Verification Questionnaire Reminder

Dear Facility Owners/Operators,

The 2021 Hazardous Waste Identification (ID) Number Verification Questionnaire (VQ) report cycle administered by the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) is still open. However, required handlers that do not complete their questionnaires by October 31^st by 5:00 PM, will have their ID number(s) inactivated on November 1^st, 2021.

Inactive ID numbers can be reactivated in step 3 of the questionnaire. Any fees owed must be paid, then posted by DTSC’s Accounting Unit before the ID number will be reactivated.

Who needs to complete an eVQ? Your company is required to file the 2021 electronic Verification Questionnaire if:

1. Your hazardous waste EPA ID number was active any time during the 2020/2021 fiscal year (from July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021); and/or
2. Your company shipped hazardous waste using an assigned hazardous waste EPA ID number during the 2020 calendar year (from January 1 – December 31, 2020)

The annual VQ and fees assessment for Hazardous Waste ID Numbers and Hazardous Waste Manifests are required by Health and Safety Code Sections 25205.15 and 25205.16. You must complete the eVQ to maintain the active status of your ID number(s).
