County BMP Design Manual

Draft 2018 County BMP Design Manual has Been Posted

The County BMP Design Manual is being updated to incorporate changes made in the May 2018 Model BMP Design Manual and to address County specific topics. This version incorporates improvements identified during implementation and in response to input received from stakeholders and industry representatives. Examples include the simplification of infiltration testing requirements, the inclusion of new tools for using tree wells to satisfy structural performance standards, and a clearer articulation of source control BMP requirements.

The County  has posted this version for public review and comments. Comments are to be received by the County before November 19, 2018. This update includes the following revisions:

  • Pollutant control and hydromodification management clarifications
  • Biofiltration BMP sizing methods
  • Bioretention soil media (BSM) update
  • Infiltration feasibility methods
  • Revised sizing factors for hydromodification management
  • New guidance for structural BMP maintenance
  • Self-retaining DMAs with tree wells
  • New submittal forms

A seminar will be held at the County Operations Center Hearing Room (5520 Overland Avenue, San Diego, CA) on November 13, 2018 to discuss the Manual revisions. It will be geared toward the development community, municipal staff, engineers, designers, and plan checkers. No registration is required.

The presentation materials and event details can be viewed here.
