July 12, 2017 - Get Your Family and Friends in the Mix!
Spending time with family and friends can
be a great opportunity for incorporating exercise into your activities. Take an evening walk together around the
neighborhood or at the beach. Dance to your favorite music while getting ready
in the morning. Play with your kids at your local playground. Meet up with
friends or family for a summer BBQ, picnic or community event.
Kitchens
For Good offers
these tips to help you plan for a great summer picnic or BBQ (and don’t forget to go for a walk
afterward to get in those needed steps):
Décor
– Spice up your picnic using your imagination. Use a lot of color, boxes or
crates to create a beautiful event.
Food
– Make sure it’s Instagram worthy. Taking a very simple meal and making it
aesthetically pleasing will change the way food is received.
Sides - Serve up some basic recipes to support your main course. Heirloom Tomatoes and Caprese Salad – there’s nothing like a nice juicy
tomato and mozzarella salad with some fresh basil and balsamic glaze. Plain Old Potato Salad – You can’t go wrong with a potato
salad made with mayo and scallions but maybe flair it up a bit and go Southern
Style with a little paprika! Big
Bowl of Guacamole – Everyone loves a nice chip and dip.
Nothing goes better in the summer than a cool bowl of mashed avocados and
chips.
The
summertime has many opportunities for being active. Invite a friend to get in some steps with you
at one of these upcoming community events:
Leucadia
