July 1, 2017 - Set A Fitness Goal!
The Live Well San Diego 5K Fitness Challenge is designed to help you
activate your fitness goals on your way to a healthier, safer and more thriving
life. Setting a fitness goal can keep you accountable and help you stay on
track so you stick to every workout.
The goal of the 5K Fitness Challenge
is to help you increase your physical activity and to help people of all
fitness levels prepare to walk or run in the Live
Well San Diego 5K on July 30th - at the end
of the four-week challenge period.
The 5K Fitness Challenge Calendar will help you plan for each day's physical activity. If you can’t complete the full distance each day, go as far as you can and work on building stamina and strength. It doesn’t matter whether you walk or run; just do your best to get
in the additional number of daily steps per day. You
may find that you can gradually increase your physical activity over time, even
mixing light jogging into your daily walking routine.
If the daily walk/run challenges are
not enough for you, then Step It Up! with elements of the American College
of Sports Medicine’s 7-Minute Workout, found on the 31-Day Fitness Challenge website. The 7-minute workout is a timed set
of exercises that combines aerobic and resistance training into one efficient
training program that can be done anywhere – and it’s only 7 minutes!
We’ve also scheduled a series of meet-up walks, hikes and bike rides with
various Live Well San Diego Partners
throughout the month of July to help you get in your fitness activity. Invite a
friend to join you or meet new people while you enjoy a workout together. Check
out our Fitness Challenge Meet-Up Calendar for more information.
Thanks for participating in the Live Well San Diego 5K Fitness Challenge
- we’re excited you’re here!
