Victor Valley Museum announces a new exhibition: Here Comes the Sun: Solar Science and Spirituality
Victor Valley Museum (VVM) is excited to bring the long-awaited exhibition, Here Comes the Sun: Solar Science & Spirituality, an awe-inspiring imagery experience to visitors through a floor-to-ceiling projection with footage of the Sun provided by NASA’s Solar Dynamic Observatory (SDO) on Saturday, Aug. 2 and run through Sunday, Nov. 23.
This original, thought-provoking exhibition invites visitors to explore the profound relationship between humanity and the Sun — blending the rigor of science with the richness of spiritual and cultural traditions from around the region.
Here Comes the Sun brings together regional artifacts, an interactive display, and immersive experiences that celebrate the sun as both a star at the center of our solar system and a powerful symbol across the County.
“This exhibition is more than just a scientific journey,” said Curator of Art and Exhibits, Dr. Casey Lee. “It’s an exploration of how the sun has shaped our beliefs, our environment, and our future. Visitors will leave with a deeper appreciation for the sun’s role in both the natural world and human culture.”
Highlights of the exhibition include:
- An immersive floor-to-ceiling projection of Solarium provided by NASA’s SDO.
- SBCM collection artifacts from archaeology, earth sciences, history, and integrated biology on how they have been impacted or played a role by the sun.
- A hands-on interactive plasma ball.
