The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is holding a “Teen Survival Driving Class” on Nov. 4 and Dec. 9 at the Frank Bland Regional Training Center in San Bernardino.
This fast-paced 8-hour course will teach students about defensive driving techniques and safe driving skills such as precision driving, accident avoidance, vehicular control, emergency lane changes, skid recovery and controlled braking.

In observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, A Better Way/Victor Valley Domestic Violence will host its annual Candlelight Vigil at 6 p.m. this Friday, Oct. 20.
San Bernardino County Chief District Attorney Donna Kauffman is the keynote speaker of the event, which pays remembrance to individuals who lost their lives to domestic violence while celebrating survivors.

SCTA Hosting October Race at El Mirage Dry Lake on Sunday Morning
The Southern California Timing Association is hosting its October meet this weekend at El Mirage Dry Lake. Spectators and invited to watch as cars and motorcycles race over 250 mph across the dry lake. El Mirage Dry Lake has been home to speed runs for decades. It still hosts six major events a year.
Overnight camping is allowed on the edge of El Mirage Dry Lake Bed. Guests must pack in and pack out everything they bring, and leave the lake better than they found it. Practice starts at noon Saturday, with racing beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday. The race event will also be live-streamed at LSRLive.com
