San Bernardino County continues to make seniors 65 and over the focus of its vaccination efforts by immediately making thousands of new appointments available at County-operated sites through Feb. 27, including two soon-to-open locations in Victorville and Joshua Tree.

These appointments are available only to people aged 65 and over who live or work in San Bernardino County. Proof of age and residency will be required prior to vaccination. Appointments are available at https://sbcovid19.com/vaccine/locations. Those without access to the Internet can make appointments and receive other valuable information by calling 909-387-3911 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

“Seniors are most at risk from COVID-19, so our focus right now is on getting vaccinations in their arms as soon as possible,” said Board of Supervisors Chairman Curt Hagman. 

Approximately one-third of the 39,370 new senior 65+ appointments are available now. More will be made available on Wednesday, and the final allotment from this allocation will be available on Saturday, Feb. 13.

The appointments will be available for the following County-operated vaccination centers:

• Ontario Convention Center 
• Arroyo High School, San Bernardino 
• Hook Community Center, Victorville (opening Tuesday)
• Hesperia Health Center
• Copper Mountain College, Joshua Tree (opening Wednesday)

The County vaccinated 3,235 people, almost all seniors 65+, during a mass vaccination event at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana on Tuesday. The County will soon announce a mobile vaccination service to serve the county’s more remote locations, with a focus on seniors and other at-risk populations.

Vaccinations are also being conducted at a State-operated location in Bloomington as well as hospitals, pharmacies, and other sites throughout the county. Appointments for all locations can be made at https://sbcovid19.com/vaccine/locations. 

Supplies from the State are very limited and securing an appointment is often difficult. County officials are in daily contact with the State Department of Public Health in efforts to secure as many vaccine doses as possible.

The only other populations eligible for vaccinations in San Bernardino County are:

• Frontline health care workers, the vast majority of whom have had vaccinations available to them through their employers.
• Peace officers and firefighters, all of whom have had vaccinations made available to them.
• Teachers and support staff working in schools that are conducting in-person instruction or that plan to begin in-person instruction prior to the end of the current school year. Vaccinations to teachers and school support staff are available only through their employers.

Vaccinations for other sectors will open when vaccine supplies from the State are sufficient enough to support additional appointments without interfering with access to seniors 65+.
