Have you visited the Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC) recently, perhaps to catch the train or for an event? What about to take a journey through time at the Welcome Center or Railroad museums or tour the home of the first Mayor of Salinas? Take a brief survey to share what other community events, activities or elements you would like to see at the ITC's 9-acre property.
Special events? Food vendors? What about housing, concerts, or more green space?
What is the ITC?
The Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC) is a nine-acre site adjacent to the core Downtown area with a mix of bus, train and shuttle service. The ITC has long been viewed primarily as a transportation resource that connects Salinas to the broader region by bus and rail.
Are changesthcoming to the ITC?
The City is evaluating if the ITC could accommodate urban-scale mixed-use development and improve connectivity between neighborhoods. The 2014 Economic Development Element and subsequent 2015 Downtown Vibrancy Plan are both accepted strategy documents that identify the ITC as a catalyst site for priority development, including residential and retail uses; one vision could be the ITC as a mixed-use Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) that will activate and connect the central city to transit options while providing needed housing and commercial services.
When does the survey close?
