Attempted Homicide on Williams Rd.
Salinas, CA – On Monday at 4:58PM, officers responded to a fight between two males on the 300 block of Williams Road, one possibly cut with a metal pipe. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim outside the laundromat bleeding heavily from his abdomen. He could not provide a statement before being transported. A knife and backpack were located next to him. Witnesses indicated the suspect, 55-year-old Pedro Lopez, was still inside the laundromat. A witness saw Lopez beat the victim outside of the laundromat with a metal broom handle until the handle broke into two pieces. Lopez used one piece of the broken broom handle to stab the victim as they continued to fight. The bloody, broken broom handle was discarded in a trashcan inside the laundromat. It is unknown, at this time, the reason for the altercation.
