Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested
Salinas, CA – On February 5, 2024, at 12:30 pm, a male entered the Mechanics Bank located at 1285 N. Davis Road. The suspect walked up to the teller station and proceeded to complete a robbery of the bank for approximately $1,800. Officers were told the suspect left the bank and drove off towards N. Davis Rd. in a newer white model vehicle. Officers began diligently checking video surveillance from around the area and located the possible suspect vehicle. During an investigation into that vehicle, it was discovered that it was possibly related to an attempted robbery that had occurred out of Gilroy two days prior. Further investigation into the vehicle's registered owner, Michael Todd Haley, was completed, and he was identified as the suspect in both robberies. Haley had an extensive criminal history, including four prior robbery arrests from 2009-2013 in places that include Perris, Monterey, Milpitas, and Salinas.
A search warrant and arrest warrant were authored for Haley in both cases and Garden Grove PD (CA) was able to locate Haley for us. Garden Grove SWAT executed the warrants and safely took him into custody. Haley will be transported back to Monterey County and Santa Clara County, where he will face the charges of robbery and attempted robbery. We are providing a picture of what Haley was wearing during the robbery to locate any other victims of unreported robberies.
