Dear Friends and Second District Residents,
Riverside County has experienced the devastating loss of two deputies this past month. Deputy Isaiah Cordero, killed in the line of duty on December 29, 2022, and Deputy Darnell Calhoun, killed in the line of duty on January 13, 2023. In times like these we must come together as a County and remember the lives of these two brave men. My heart goes out to the family members and friends of both Deputies, and I pray they can continue to live within their memories.
The mass shooting in Monterey Park saddens me. My thoughts and prayers go to the people, families, and community members impacted by this tragedy while trying to enjoy the Lunar New Year festivities. I hope they find peace in the year ahead.
With all the tragic loss and suffering within the last month, I remind the Second District constituents that mental health is important and county services are available to those in need. For more information, please call 988 or visit https://www.rcdmh.org/.
February is National Black History Month, a time to observe the rich cultural heritage, triumphs and adversities that are an indelible part of our country’s history. It reminds us to celebrate and recognize that Black history is American history. To learn more, please visit https://blackhistorymonth.gov/.
In one of my first acts of Supervisor for the new District Two, I have secured $1.8 million in Second District American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding for the Alberhill Ranch Clubhouse improvements project at the Boys and Girls Club in Lake Elsinore. The revitalization of this Clubhouse is one of the many projects I have in my sights within the Second District, and I am so pleased that we are moving forward as planned.
With that, I hope to accomplish much more in the coming year, and I appreciate all your support. Thank you for allowing me to continue as your Riverside County District Two Supervisor!
Sincerely,
|

Nonprofit Spotlight: Inspire Life Skills Training, Inc.
District Two is fortunate to have hundreds of nonprofits that do some incredible work. Many of these nonprofits have volunteer board of directors and positions where you can volunteer. Volunteerism is a great way to use your talents and share your expertise with others that need assistance.
Inspire is a private, nonprofit organization that was founded in 2005. Its goal is to create a safety net for emancipated foster youth while they transition into young adults and to help them break the cycle of abuse and poverty of their past. In addition, the organization aims to help every student earn a vocational certificate or degree and learn valuable life skills to become self-sufficient.
Inspire exists to break the cycle of abuse and poverty through stable housing, education, training, and mentorship of foster and homeless youth.
The District Two team celebrates this nonprofit and its excellent guidance in supporting these young adults.
For more information, visit the Inspire Life Skills Training website at inspirelifeskills.org.
The District Two team will continue to feature one nonprofit spotlight each month.
