Living Free Animal Sanctuary

The Third District Team visited Living Free Animal Sanctuary in Idyllwild to learn more about War Horse Creek. War Horse Creek, an initiative of Living Free, is an immersive transition program using rescued horses to assist veterans as they adjust to civilian life. If you’re a veteran interested in receiving collaborative horsemanship lessons, life skills training, and an opportunity to connect and enjoy recreational activities, visit http://living-free.org/attend-a-workshop.

Community Highlight: Idyllwild Arts Academy

At a recent Board Meeting, June 25 was declared Idyllwild Arts Founders Day. The Idyllwild School of Music and the Arts (ISOMATA) opened on June 25, 1950, and was conceived to be a beautiful summer destination for workshops and classes. ISOMATA continues to provide a secluded place where people of all backgrounds come together to experience the arts.

California Mortgage Relief Program Expands Eligibility

The California Mortgage Relief Program is broadening eligibility by now covering past-due property taxes for more homeowners, expanding the income eligibility, and modifying the past-due requirement to include homeowners who missed payments in 2022.

Applicants who were previously deemed ineligible have been notified of the program expansions, and anyone who believes they meet the new criteria is encouraged to reapply. Riverside County Library System Celebrates 25 Years

On July 1, 1997, Library Systems and Services partnered with Riverside County, making the system the first government organization in the United States to operate a library as a public-private partnership. Look out for Riverside County Library System’s 25-year celebrations in your local library and online at www.rivlib.info.

REMINDER: Cool Centers Protect Residents from the Heat

Looking to escape the heat? As temperatures rise, cool centers throughout Riverside County have opened their doors, offering residents a refreshing place to relax. Visit www.capriverside.org/cool-centers for a list of Third District cool center locations and hours of operation. If you know a location interested in participating as a cool center, contact Community Action Partnership at 951-955-4900.

American Rescue Plan Act Nonprofit Grant

The Riverside County Board of Supervisors allocated $1 million to support pandemic relief efforts undertaken by nonprofit organizations. Grants may be awarded to eligible 501 (c)(3) nonprofits providing direct relief services and/or serving populations disproportionately impacted by the pandemic within the Third District. Supervisor Seeks Applicants for Vacancies on Third District Boards, Committees and Commissions

Are you a dedicated individual interested in serving your community? Riverside County has numerous boards, committees, and commissions comprised of appointed members of the public. These appointees serve in an advisory capacity and make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors. Supervisor Washington is invariably seeking residents to represent the Third District who are willing to work hard to better their community. Riverside County COVID-19 Update

As of Wednesday, July 13, 2022, Riverside County’s COVID-19 case rate per 100,000 residents is 35.1. Help keep our community safe by getting your COVID-19 vaccines. To make an appointment, call 211 or visit www.ruhealth.org/covid-19-vaccine. You can also schedule an appointment at a community health center by calling 800-945-6171. If you are unable to leave your home for medical reasons, you can be vaccinated from the comfort of your home by calling 833-422-4255 or visiting myturn.ca.gov. If you recently tested positive for COVID-19 and are experiencing symptoms, you may be eligible for monoclonal antibody treatment. For more information, please call the RUHS Medical Center at 951-486-6520.
