COMMISSIONER SPOTLIGHT

Vasquez Small

Airport Commissioner Joe Vazquez resides in Ward 2 and began his term on the Airport Commission in March 2017. Commissioner Vazquez and his wife own and operate a successful, small business in the security industry. Commissioner Vazquez is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and worked with the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs as an advocate for homeless veterans.

Vazquez is a member of various organizations including the National Veteran Small Business Coalition (NVSBC), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Disabled Veteran Business Alliance (DVBA) and Service Connected Disabled Veteran (USMC). Commissioner Vazquez is also proficient in emergency response. Vazquez' experience as a security consultant with an international airport provides a unique viewpoint to the Airport Commission. A

The City of Riverside Airport Commission is currently recruiting candidates to fill positions in March 2018.  

The Airport Commission consists of nine members who act in an advisory capacity to the Mayor and City Council in all matters pertaining to administration, operation, development, improvement and maintenance of the Airport. The Airport Commission meets at 3 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month in the Airport Terminal Building Conference Room.
