Amazon Breaks Ground on New Delivery Station in Redding's Stillwater Business Park
The City of Redding, Shasta EDC, and Amazon celebrated the groundbreaking of a new Amazon Delivery Station on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in Redding’s Stillwater Business Park, marking a significant investment in local jobs, infrastructure, expanded logistics, and the broader Northern California economy.
The southeast Redding facility is expected to be operational in 2026. It will serve as a last-mile delivery station, streamlining the process of getting packages to customers’ doorsteps across the region and shortening rural delivery times. The delivery station will create more than 100 full-time and part-time positions, in addition to supporting dozens of ancillary jobs in the region through local delivery partners, fleet services, and business-to-business contracts.
“We’re proud to welcome Amazon to Stillwater Business Park. The project is an investment, not just in land and infrastructure, but in our people and our future,” says Jack Munns, Redding City Mayor. “It’s a testament to the value of long-term planning and regional collaboration.”

Redding Police Department Conducting School Zone Speed Enforcement to Protect Children
As the school year continues, the Redding Police Department is reminding drivers to slow down and stay alert when traveling through school zones. The safety of children is our top priority, and speeding in these areas poses a significant danger to students walking, biking, or being dropped off and picked up from school.
To increase awareness and improve compliance, Redding Police officers will be conducting targeted speed enforcement in school zones throughout the city. The enforcement helps to educate drivers on the importance of slowing down in areas where children are present.
Please remember that the maximum speed limit in a school zone is 25 miles per hour when children are present. “Children present” refers to times when children are on the sidewalk, in the crosswalk, or otherwise near the roadway during school hours, including arrival and dismissal times. At all other times, the posted speed limit for that roadway applies.
The Redding Police Department urges all motorists to:
• Obey posted speed limits in school zones.
• Watch for children crossing streets or riding bicycles.
• Avoid distractions such as cell phones while driving.
• Be prepared to stop for school buses with flashing red lights.
Through enforcement and education, The Redding Police Department hopes to spread the message that child safety starts with slowing down. These operations are part of Redding Police Department’s ongoing commitment to reducing traffic collisions, injuries, and fatalities in the community, per the Strategic Plan.

The Redding Library to Maintain Modified Service Hours as Carpet Replacement Project Continues
In early August, carpet replacement began at the Redding Public Library. The library continues to operate under a modified service schedule as the remainder of the flooring is replaced. At this time, only the Community Room is open, providing a small browsing collection, holds pickup, a public printer, and access to public computers. through the Community Room. The temporary library hours will be Monday – Friday, 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM, and Saturday – Sunday, 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM.
The project, paid for by a grant, cost will total $798,000, which includes the design process, staff time, materials, and contractors. The carpet in the building is 18 years old, originally installed when the building opened in 2007.
Travis Menne, Community Services Director, says, “The City applied for and received grant funding from the California State Library’s Building Forward Grant for the carpet replacement. Despite the impacts, library maintenance and improvement funds are limited, so staff is taking the opportunity to use the funds for this project while they are available.”
