The California Air Resources Board (CARB or Board) has extended the application window for the 2026 Assembly Bill (AB) 32 Environmental Justice Advisory Committee (EJAC). The membership application is now due by 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time on May 5, 2026.
The California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (AB 32; Stats. 2006, chapter 488) called for CARB to convene an EJAC to advise the Board in developing the Scoping Plan and any other pertinent matter in implementing AB 32. The Board approved an ongoing EJAC in March 2023 to meet between and during Scoping Plan cycles. Currently, CARB is seeking 11 members to serve on EJAC for a 36-month term.
CARB will prioritize the following criteria in the selection of new members:
- Representatives from communities in the State with the most significant exposure to air pollution, including but not limited to communities with minority populations or low-income populations, or both, pursuant to AB 32 statute and California Health and Safety Code section 38591.
- Geographic representation across California, including underrepresented communities.
- Candidates who possess environmental justice / community experience.
- Candidates who possess expertise / knowledge of AB 32.
Application forms must be completed with all required documentation to be considered in the selection process. Note that all required documents must be received by CARB no later than one business day from submittal of the application form. Any materials submitted past the required application date will not be accepted.
To ensure a fair, transparent, and competitive process, CARB is unable to answer questions regarding the application or the requirements. Please refer to the EJAC Membership Guide for more information on the EJAC member role, including general expectations in advising the Board on AB 32-related programs.
Any technical issues on the application should be sent to EJACMeetings@arb.ca.gov.
