Survey and public meetings on California’s Climate Action Plan

February meetings in Riverside and Sacramento; more in-person and virtual options to come in March

en español

The California Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) invite the public to participate in local in-person and virtual public meetings in February and March to discuss major elements of California’s Comprehensive Climate Action Plan. The plan will offer a roadmap to provide cleaner forms of energy, including increased access to zero-emissions options that will give Californians choices to help clean the air and fight climate change.

You can contribute today by taking the California Climate Action Survey. It only takes a couple of minutes to complete, and your answers will be anonymous. We look forward to your feedback!

Background

Created under the Inflation Reduction Act, U.S. EPA’s Climate Pollution Reduction Grants (CPRG) Program offered states, large metropolitan areas, and Tribal Nations non-competitive funding in 2023 to create three climate plans over four years. The Priority Climate Action Plans were submitted on March 1, 2024 (April 1 for Tribal Nations). All those who received funding for planning under the CPRG program must now complete the Comprehensive Climate Action Plan, due in Fall 2025. The CPRG program will then require a Status Report in 2027.

The Comprehensive Climate Action Plan is a key deliverable under U.S. EPA’s CPRG Program and will describe approaches to achieve the State’s existing near- and long-term climate targets. Currently being developed with input from multiple state agencies, and with input from local governments, Tribal Nations, and the public, the plan will provide actions across all sectors to deliver reductions in planet-warming gases, and will address workforce, public health, economic and other considerations.

The Comprehensive Climate Action Plan will leverage California’s extensive work to date on climate planning and policy, including the Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP), developed under the CPRG Program and submitted to the U.S. EPA in March 2024, and the latest update to the Scoping Plan.
