The California Air Resources Board (CARB) hosts a series of monthly evening community meetings on the third Tuesday of most months to discuss their plans for funding clean transportation. These meetings have focused on the Clean Transportation Incentives Funding Plan (Funding Plan) Development Process which explains how CARB will spend money on projects related to zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) and improving air quality. Since the Funding Plan is generally developed between May and November, CARB staff will still hold monthly evening community meetings outside of the Funding Plan process to provide updates on incentive project implementation, other CARB initiatives, as well as to provide a forum for community members to express their thoughts, concerns, and suggestions.
During this meeting, CARB staff will give a summary of any daytime workgroup meetings and discuss the implementation status of incentive projects such as the Innovative Small e-Fleet Pilot Project Fiscal Year 2023-24 as well as an overview of the Clean Transportation Equity Incentives Symposium. There will also be a presentation from the California Energy Commission on electric vehicle charging. Staff looks forward to your attendance and encourages collaboration from community members.
If you would like to suggest a topic(s) for future evening community meetings, please let us know at the April 16, 2024 meeting or email your suggestion(s) to our general email address CleanTransportationIncentives@arb.ca.gov.
We would also like to take this opportunity to let you know about CARB’s annual research planning process which is guided by research priorities that are responsive to CARB programmatic goals, emerging air quality and climate issues and public input. Public input is collected through various mechanisms, including the annual research concept and comment survey and public meetings. CARB is accepting research comments and concepts through a survey on our website. The final date to submit research concepts or submit research comments for funding in fiscal year 2025-2026 is April 16, 2024.
The workgroup meeting will be held via a Zoom webinar on the following date and time:
Date: Tuesday, April 16, 2024 Time: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (PT) Location: Webinar/Teleconference
Please register for the evening community meeting webinar. After you register, you will receive a confirmation email with information about how to join the webinar by computer or telephone.
This meeting will be recorded. Approximately two weeks after the meeting date, a link to the recording and a list of workgroup attendees will be made available and posted on CARB's Calendar of Events webpage.
Purpose of the Workgroup
This is the third meeting of the year in a series of evening community meetings CARB staff will host related to the Funding Plan and project implementation updates for various CARB initiatives. Furthermore, CARB staff offer this platform to listen to community voices on their clean transportation needs.
The workgroup agenda is now available on CARB's Calendar of Events webpage. Staff’s presentation will be posted to the same webpage prior to the workshop.
All interested community members are invited to attend.
Background
The Annual Funding Plan for Clean Transportation Incentives is a detailed outline of how money will be spent on programs related to low carbon transportation and air quality. This plan is created each fiscal year to guide the allocation of funds appropriated to CARB through the State budget and includes information on CARB's goals and strategies for investing in clean technology. Although the Funding Plan is generally developed between May and November, CARB staff would like to continue to hold monthly evening community meetings outside of the Funding Plan process to provide updates on other CARB initiatives as well as a forum for community members to express their thoughts, concerns, and suggestions.
