Final Regulation Order Approved by OAL
On Monday, August 1, 2022, the Office of Administrative Law (OAL) approved amendments to the Consumer Products Regulation and Test Method 310 that were approved by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) March 25, 2021. The regulation and test method were filed with the Secretary of State, and became effective August 1, 2022.
Background
CARB’s Consumer Products Program is an important part of overall efforts to reduce the amount of smog-forming volatile organic compounds (VOC), toxic air contaminants, and greenhouse gases that are emitted from the use of chemically formulated consumer products. CARB’s consumer products regulations have resulted in projected emissions reductions of nearly 50 percent since 1990, but more needs to be done to meet health-based air quality standards. The amendments to the regulation are designed to further reduce the amount of air pollutants emitted from various categories of consumer products.
