The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has released a 2020 semi-annual data update that describes the progress of the California Climate Investments over time and includes new data covering the period between December 1, 2019 and May 31, 2020. It includes estimates of greenhouse gas emission reductions and other project benefits.
California Climate Investments are directing billions of dollars into our State’s transition to a resilient, low-carbon, and more equitable future, with over $1 billion in new funding implemented in the first half of 2020 alone. There were new investments in fire prevention and forest health projects, affordable housing and sustainable communities, and other projects across the suite of California Climate Investments that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote a healthier California. Over this six-month period, California Climate Investments saw 28,000 new projects including almost 1,700 new affordable housing units under contract and nearly 25,000 new rebates for zero-emission and plug-in hybrid vehicles. California Climate Investments projects also produce benefits beyond greenhouse gas emission reductions, including improved air quality, supporting jobs, and increased resilience to the impacts of climate change.
CARB has also released an updated interactive map including each implemented project in the State. The map displays additional project-level information for each investment and users can filter by program, county, or legislative district. Additionally, CARB has released an update to the interactive data dashboard, which enables users to easily explore California Climate Investments data. The semi-annual data update materials, map, data dashboard, and project list provide project data as of May 31, 2020 and are available at California Climate Investments.
