SB 1383 Dairy and Livestock Greenhouse Gas Reduction Working Group

Final Working Group Meeting Scheduled

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is announcing the final Dairy and Livestock Greenhouse Gas Reduction Working Group (Working Group) which will be held on December 3, 2018.

Pursuant to SB 1383 (Lara, Chapter 395, Statutes of 2016), CARB, the California Department of Food and Agriculture, the California Energy Commission, and the California Public Utilities Commission (State agencies), along with a broad range of stakeholders, convened the Working Group in May 2017.  The purpose of the Working Group is to identify and address technical, market, regulatory, and other challenges and barriers to the development of dairy methane emission reduction projects.

Three subgroups were formed at the May 2017 Working Group meeting to develop policy recommendations in specific areas: Fostering Markets for Non-Digester Projects (Subgroup #1); Fostering Markets for Digester Projects (Subgroup #2); and Research Needs, Including Enteric Fermentation (Subgroup #3).  The Subgroups have met regularly since that time developing policy recommendations to present to the State agencies at the final Working Group meeting.

An agenda will be sent out in early November and relevant documents will be posted before the meeting is set to take place. The meeting is open to the public and the meeting specifics are included below:
