The
California Air Resources Board (CARB) is announcing the final Dairy and
Livestock Greenhouse Gas Reduction Working Group
(Working Group) which will be held on December 3, 2018.
Pursuant to SB 1383 (Lara, Chapter 395,
Statutes of 2016), CARB, the California Department of Food and Agriculture, the
California Energy Commission, and the California Public Utilities Commission
(State agencies), along with a broad range of stakeholders, convened the
Working Group in May 2017. The purpose
of the Working Group is to identify and address technical, market, regulatory,
and other challenges and barriers to the development of dairy
methane emission reduction projects.
Three subgroups were formed at the May 2017
Working Group meeting to develop policy recommendations in specific areas:
Fostering Markets for Non-Digester Projects (Subgroup #1);
Fostering Markets for Digester Projects (Subgroup #2); and
Research Needs, Including Enteric Fermentation (Subgroup #3). The Subgroups have met regularly since that
time developing policy recommendations to present to the State agencies at the
final Working Group meeting.
An agenda will be sent out in early November and relevant documents will be posted before the meeting is set to take place. The
meeting is open to the public and the meeting specifics are included below:
