Purpose of Workshop
While
California remains on track to achieve our 2030 GHG targets, transportation
sector GHG emissions have increased 4 percent from 2014 to 2016 largely driven
by increases in emissions from gasoline used in on-road vehicles. This workshop is an opportunity for
California agencies to describe the policies and programs that are being
implemented to achieve GHG reductions in the transportation sector. The workshop will also provide a forum for experts
to discuss opportunities for additional GHG reductions from the production and
combustion of petroleum transportation fuels in California.
Pursuant to
Resolution 17-46 of the 2017 Scoping Plan Update, the Executive Officer must
provide an update to the Board regarding any additional cost-effective
technologically feasible GHG reduction measures. This workshop will also help inform this
update.
Following
the workshop, stakeholders will have an opportunity to provide written comments
during an informal comment period, which will conclude at 5:00 p.m. Pacific
time on Friday, August 24, 2018.
All
interested stakeholders are invited to attend. A live webcast of the
workshop will be available for those unable to attend in person. Materials that will
be discussed at the workshop will be available by 9:00 am Pacific time on Monday,
August 20, 2018.
