Invitation to Participate
The California Air Resources Board (CARB or Board) invites
you to participate in a public workshop on developing a Beneficiary Mitigation
Plan for California’s $423 million allocation of the Volkswagen (VW)
Environmental Mitigation Trust (Mitigation Trust). The workshop will be held in six locations
throughout California between February 26 and March 8, 2018. The VW Mitigation Trust is a component of a
partial settlement with VW resulting from its use of illegal defeat devices in
certain 2.0-liter and 3.0-liter model year 2009 to 2016 diesel cars sold in the
State. The Mitigation Trust is
enumerated in a Partial Consent Decree as Appendix D. Additional information is available in the
workshop notice.

A discussion
document outlining staff’s recommendations on project categories, funding
allocations, and project criteria for this funding will be posted prior to the
first workshop on CARB’s VW Mitigation Trust website. The discussion document will include a
workshop agenda. Staff’s presentation
will be posted on this website the morning of first workshop, February 26,
2018, in Sacramento.
Interested
members of the public may also submit comments throughout the Beneficiary
Mitigation Plan development process.
