OAKLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
AIRPORT BULLETIN
SUBJECT: PAVEMENT IMPROVEMENTS FOR TAXIWAYS W AND U, PHASE 1, SOUTHFIELD, OAKLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, OAKLAND, CA
DATE: November 30, 2011
A. Scope of Work: Phase 3
- Surveying, layout and construction staking;
- Marking and potholing underground utilities;
- Place low level barricades with flashing beacons and K-rail;
- Removal of pavement striping and markings;
- Removal of airfield lighting, cables, light cans and conduits;
- Installation of new light cans and conduits;
- Cold mill pavement and transport grindings off site;
- Placement of new base repair and asphalt pavement;
- Installation of new airfield lighting and miscellaneous electrical work;
- Rout and seal pavement cracks;
- Placement of pavement rejuvenator and sealer;
- Striping and pavement marking;
- Installation of pavement markers;
- Installation of taxiway edge reflectors.
B. Duration of Project and Planned Schedule:
50 calendar days – December 5, 2011 to January 23, 2012
Work hours: Day-time: 0700 to1600
Night-time: 1600 to 2400
Graveyard: Mon 0001 to 0600
C. Location of Work and Route:
Location: Taxiway W between Taxiways U and V
(see attached location map)
Routes to access worksite will be:

Gate B (limited to non trucking traffic)

Air Cargo Way to Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF) Station Gate.
D. Storage Site:
Storage area will be the closed portion of Txln W and B and paved apron area at the OMC or as designated by Port.
E. Vehicles:
Construction vehicles will display the appropriate placards, orange and white checkered flags during day light operations and flashing beacons during night time operations.
Vehicles will at all times comply with Oakland International Airport, Airport Operations Area (AOA) Vehicle Safety Rules 406.2.
F. Personnel Identification:
Personnel will be properly badged or under escort into the security zone by properly badged contractor (Gallagher & Burk and their subcontractors) personnel, Airport Construction personnel and/or Airport Operations personnel.
G. Special Instructions and/or Restrictions
Restrictions during construction:
1. Truck and equipment access will be through ARFF gates.
2. Truck haul routes shall be restricted as showin in the plans
3. During continuous trucking of materials, contractor shall provide a pilot car to escort trucks hauling materials to and from the AOA.
4. Where trucks will cross active taxiways, contractor shall provide a flagger who will be in contact with ATCT and will direct traffic accordingly.
5. Closure of any taxiways or taxilanes will be published via NOTAM.
6. Txwy W between Txwys U and V will be closed; Txwy B between GRE and Txwy W will be closed; access to GRE from Txwy T will be maintained.
7. Trucks will cross active Txwy V ina ccordance with Restriction 4 above.
8. Other restrictions as specificed in SEC. 01560 of the project manual
Contractor’s representative will be present at the work site or be available by telephone at all times that work is in progress.
Work site and trucking route are to be kept clean and free of debris. Prior to leaving the worksite, Airside Operations Supervisor must be notified for an inspection of the area.
All trench work must be barricaded off or covered at the end of each work day.
Each work area will be barricaded off with low level barricades.
Low level barricades and flashing beacons will mark the area under construction.
During trucking operations access gates will be guarded when open by ABC Security during working hours.
