State Route 89 & 267 transit priority and evacuation lanes:

The draft state Route 89 and state Route 267 adaptive corridor management / transit priority lanes strategic implementation and phasing plan was presented by the county and the project consultant Wood Rodgers to stakeholder agencies during a working group meeting last October. County staff is scheduled to present the final plan to the Placer County Board of Supervisors at its Tahoe meeting in April.

The county is currently strategizing with the consultant team to scope additional traffic and transit data collection needed for Caltrans project planning documents and grant funding requests. Placer County staff will perform data collection in 2025 and 2026 before initiating the project with Caltrans in 2026.

North Lake Tahoe Parking Management Program update:

Several updates to the parking ordinance are being proposed at the Feb. 18 Placer County Board of Supervisors meeting to allow for paid parking and residential permit parking zones in accordance with the Kings Beach parking management implementation plan and the summer 2025 parking program recommendations.

Additionally, several updates to parking restrictions on roadways are proposed to enhance parking enforcement operations and to improve turnover of premium parking spaces in front of town center businesses. This summer, staff will focus on compliance within the Kings Beach parking management zone area, with two county parking lots (Christmas Tree and Brook Avenue) to be operated as paid parking lots starting prior to Memorial Day weekend.

Placer’s parking enforcement officers will use mobile license plate recognition cameras on two county vehicles this summer to ensure compliance with time-limited parking restrictions in the commercial area. These cameras will also collect real time parking utilization data while in operation to provide valuable information for future programming.
