Greetings,
Thank you for connecting with eastern Placer through this monthly newsletter. My name is Stephanie Holloway and I am the Placer County Deputy CEO for Tahoe. I am happy to announce we’re celebrating the one-year anniversary of this newsletter where we appreciate the opportunity to share important information with you. We’re always looking for more ways to connect with you.
It was inspiring to see the 120-plus turnout with representatives from 10 of our local partner agencies at our inaugural Discover & Discuss community event in Kings Beach last month.
Having so many of us come together to chat about the work being done here was incredible. I’m excited to see how these conversations continue to advance our vision of a vibrant, healthy and sustainable Tahoe.

Our region first identified some of these priorities four decades ago with the original area plan from the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency. In 2012 and 2013, the community described our goals for each of the town centers in Tahoe City and Kings Beach. Together, we identified economic vitality, environmental improvements and new alternative transportation options as key initiatives while preserving the unique sense of place.
These ideas helped inform the Tahoe Basin Area Plan that was approved in 2017. Our recent amendments were designed to encourage the type of revitalization and catalyst projects that will spur additional prosperity for everyone here. We invite you to stay engaged as we carry forward this vision of a healthy environment, a thriving economy and vibrant community.
Coming up later this month, the Board of Supervisors will be meeting in Tahoe on June 25 with a variety of items related to important services and programs in eastern Placer County. The agenda will be available here at least 72 hours before the meeting.
Check this newsletter monthly for information on other events to connect with us. In future editions, you will hear from other members of the Placer County team as they share additional details with you on various other programs, projects, and services in our region—like the Clean Tahoe program, Short-Term Rental program, Workforce Housing Preservation Program, TART Connect and many more.
Thank you again for taking the time to read this newsletter. We look forward to continuing to work with you for a vibrant, healthy and sustainable Tahoe.

Twenty-five new engraved bears are now hanging from the railings in Tahoe City’s Heritage Plaza through a partnership with the Tahoe Fund, Placer County and the Tahoe City Public Utility District to raise money for trails in North Lake Tahoe. Since launching the new program this fall, more than $100,000 has been raised for trails through the generosity of private donors.
The engraved bears, originally available along the popular Tahoe East Shore Trail, have been embraced by those who love Tahoe and want a way to memorialize their investment and commitment to improving the Tahoe environment for all to enjoy. Bears were chosen for this location to celebrate the proximity to the iconic Penny Bear statue in Heritage Plaza. READ MORE
