California Insurance Commissioner announces moratorium on insurance companies’ non-renewals

Today, California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara announced a mandatory one-year moratorium on insurance companies’ non-renewing policyholders in order to discuss further solutions this upcoming year. Power shutoff survey identifies significant impacts to residents of Placer County

The results are in from a Placer County's survey to determine the local impacts caused October’s public safety power shutoffs. The county intends to send the survey results to state officials in order to generate further discussion about alternatives to the shutoffs. Learn more


Board of Supervisors to consider approval for Sunset Area Plan, Placer Ranch Specific Plan

Placer County’s Board of Supervisors is scheduled to consider the plans for the Sunset Area Plan and Placer Ranch Specific Plan and their associated final environmental impact report at their Dec. 10 meeting in Auburn. The Placer County Planning Commission voted in November to recommend approval of entitlements for the county’s proposed plans to the Board of Supervisors.  Learn more


Permit fees suspended for back-up generators

Permit fees to electrically connect portable and permanent generators to residences will be suspended until July 2020 with the Placer County Board of Supervisors yesterday approving the measure to make it easier and safer for residents to withstand power shutoffs. Read more

Protect yourself from floods

Flooding is a real threat in Placer County and the Sacramento region, but flood damage isn't covered by a standard homeowner’s insurance policy. The National Flood Insurance Program makes federally-backed flood insurance available for all structures, even if they're not in a high-risk flood zone. The rainy season is upon us but it’s not too late to buy flood insurance. Just know that there is a 30-day waiting period before coverage goes into effect. Learn more
