Fire insurance crisis hitting foothills and mountain communities hardest

Thousands of Placer residents are facing a crisis of insurance affordability, our new survey results say. Consistent with ongoing feedback from our residents, the results suggest that foothills and mountain communities are being hit hardest by nonrenewals, though impacts were also reported in rural areas of western Placer County such as Lincoln and Granite Bay. See the results

Placer County hosted California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara for a community town hall Aug. 28 on the fire insurance challenges so many Placer residents are facing. Lara and his staff answered questions and offered resources and advice for those facing insurance nonrenewals and premium. First invasive mosquito detected in Placer County

The Placer Mosquito and Vector Control District has detected an invasive (non-native) species of mosquito. The Aedes aegypti is commonly known as the yellow fever mosquito, and has been found in several Central Valley and southern California counties. Learn more

How can we improve traffic in Kings Beach?

Though new sidewalks, crosswalks and roundabouts have improved traffic safety in Kings Beach's downtown core, there's still more work to be done to ease congestion at the intersection of state Route 267 and North Lake Boulevard. We're currently developing a proposal to enhance the safety and mobility of all roadway users while expanding the streetscape aesthetics of the area.
